North Korean legend has it that Kim was born on Mount Paektu, one of Korea’s most cherished sites, in 1942, a birth heralded in the heavens by a pair of rainbows and a brilliant new star. Soviet records, however, indicate he was born in Siberia in 1941.

AP article reporting Kim Jong Il’s death.

North Korea’s birtherism is better than our birtherism.

WAR EAGLE!

Your morning injustice report. Today: income disparity.

Ok. Median income for males has been stagnant since 1973. Part of the reason for this (only part; this ignores the myriad societal and economic shifts that are also affecting this trend) is that median male educational attainment is the same - high school diploma. (Only ~30% of men are attending college.)

Median educational attainment for women has changed - women now make up more than half of college graduates (so, Trumanites, we were the rule with our 60-40 breakdown), and median educational attainment for women has increased since 1973. The median earnings for women have kept up with productivity since 1973, BUT REMAIN LOWER THAN THE MEDIAN MALE INCOME. So, ladies, we’re better educated than ever before, and better educated than men, and we’re still earning less.

This is super-macro level data, and it’s based on medians, which are imperfect measures. So hopefully things aren’t that bad…but it’s pretty sad that this remains.

**I can’t find the link to the direct report on NPR where I heard this. I heard it on the 9/17/2011 Shuffle podcast, starting at 10:47. I don’t have time to dig further before work.

I would think this would be a very popular opinion.
But that’s just me.
