Your morning injustice report. Today: income disparity.

Ok. Median income for males has been stagnant since 1973. Part of the reason for this (only part; this ignores the myriad societal and economic shifts that are also affecting this trend) is that median male educational attainment is the same - high school diploma. (Only ~30% of men are attending college.)

Median educational attainment for women has changed - women now make up more than half of college graduates (so, Trumanites, we were the rule with our 60-40 breakdown), and median educational attainment for women has increased since 1973. The median earnings for women have kept up with productivity since 1973, BUT REMAIN LOWER THAN THE MEDIAN MALE INCOME. So, ladies, we’re better educated than ever before, and better educated than men, and we’re still earning less.

This is super-macro level data, and it’s based on medians, which are imperfect measures. So hopefully things aren’t that bad…but it’s pretty sad that this remains.
